Arsenal announce major new kit deal

Arsenal fans have more to cheer after the club finally announced what had been rumoured for some time, confirming that they had dumped current kit sponsors Puma in favour of a lucrative new deal with Adidas.

After a difficult start to the season under new manager Unai Emery have put together a run of nine successive wins in all competitions, which culminated with Sunday’s 5 – 1 thrashing at Craven Cottage.

Now, as The Telegraph reports, there is more good news with Adidas set to take over as kit sponsors from 1st July 2019, in a 5 year deal worth £60 million a year, with the money set to swell Emery’s transfer coffers. The deal will see them draw level with Chelsea in terms of Premier League kit deals, with only Manchester United topping them.

Adidas have not supplied kit to Arsenal since 1994 but are fondly remembered by fans of a certain vintage for producing some iconic strips, such as their bruised banana away kit.
