Arsenal set to sign two players on the same day

Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Uruguay World Cup star Lucas Torreira and French under-20 star Matteo Guendouzi.

That is according to The BBC, who reports that both players are scheduled to have medicals at the club on Monday.

However, whilst the signing of Torreira has been well-signalled in advance, the addition of Guendouzi has come out of the blue for Arsenal supporters, many of whom have never even heard of him.

Guendouzi is a 19-year old defensive midfielder, currently plying his trade in Ligue 2 in France with Lorient – the same club from whom Arsenal signed Laurent Koscielny 8 years ago. Born in France of Moroccan descent, Guendouzi has a distinctive appearance thanks to his hairstyle, which is reminiscent of that of Chelsea and Brazil star David Luis.

The young starlet has been linked with moves to the Premier League in the past with Spurs and Manchester City both said to have been interested in him, but now it looks like he is set to move to Arsenal with a 5 year contract said to be on the table.
