Arsene Wenger ready to return to management with AC Milan?

Arsene Wenger may be set to return to club management with AC Milan.

The 69-year old Frenchman has been enjoying a sabbatical since leaving Arsenal in June but now appears to be ready to return to club football, although the fact that it is with AC Milan may come as a surprise to many.

That is because the new CEO at AC Milan is Ivan Gazidis, the man who is widely credited with engineering his departure from Arsenal, and who has just left his job in North London to take up a similar role in Italy.

Nevertheless, The Evening Standard reports that Wenger is in advanced discussions with the Rossoneri about taking over the managerial reigns from Gennaro Gattuso, in a move engineered by the club’s new owners, Paul and Gordon Singer.

He will also be given more control over transfers than is typically afforded managers in Serie A which is ironic, given how hard Gazidis fought to prise responsibility away for that from Wenger when the pair were both at Arsenal.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
