Aston Villa complete first signing since new takeover

Aston Villa have completed the loan signing of Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Andre Moreira o loan for the rest of the season.

The news will delight Villa fans who will reflect on what a difference a week can make. Little more than 8 days ago the club seemed to be facing a bleak future, as they struggled to raise funds to meet the needs of FFP (Financial Fair Play), and were having to consider the fire sale of some of their best players.

However, substantial new investment from new majority owners Nassef Swaris and Wes Edens looks to have eased the financial constraints considerably at Villa Park, and the arrival of Moriera, a Portuguese under-21 international, appears tangible proof of this.

According to The Daily Mirror, Moreira will compete with Jed Steer for the number one goalkeeping jersey at Villa Park, following the departure of Manchester United loanee Sam Johnstone to West Bromwich Albion.
