Bournemouth close-in on Spanish left-back

Bournemouth are close to signing Leganes full-back Diego Rico after agreeing a fee for the player with the La Liga club.

Rico, who is 25, has been at Leganes for two years, having joined from Zaragoza where he was a product of the Juvenil squad. He has since gone on to play 58 times for the club, scoring on four occasions, and has successfully helped his side, which is of a similar size to Bournemouth, survive in the top flight.

That experience will stand him and Bournemouth in good stead again next season, as they continue to try and punch above their weight in the Premier League in terms of budget and playing resources.

According to BT Sport, the fee agreed between the two clubs if £10.7 million, with Rico set to sign a four-year deal with the Cherries. If the deal does go ahead, Rico will become Eddie Howe’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of David Brooks from Sheffield United.
