Bournemouth eye January bid for Brentford centre-half

High flying Bournemouth are considering a January bid for Brentford centre-half Chris Mepham.

Eddie Howe’s side were linked with a move for the Welsh international in the summer, but saw a £10 million bid turned down by the West London side. However, according to The Sun, they are ready to make another play for him, once the January transfer window opens.

Mepham began his career with the Chelsea academy, but was released at the age of 14, and was turned down by both Watford and Queens Park Rangers, before he was eventually picked-up by Brentford. He made his debut as a late substitute in an FA Cup tie against Eastleigh, and has since gone on to make 34 appearances for The Bees in all competitions, scoring once.

Although born in Hammersmith, London, Mepham is qualified to play for Wales through his parents, and broke into the Welsh senior side earlier this year, making his debut in a friendly win over China.
