Bournemouth sign highly-rated David Brooks

Bournemouth have completed the signing of highly-rated midfielder David Brooks from Sheffield United, who becomes Eddie Howe’s first summer signing.

The Welsh international has joined the South Coast side on a 4-year deal for an undisclosed fee, reports Sky Sports News.

Brooks began his career at Manchester City, joining their academy aged seven and spent nine years there before switching to the Sheffield United academy, and signing a first professional contract with the Yorkshire side in 2015.

Since breaking into the senior side at Bramall Lane, Brooks has earned a reputation as one of the best young midfielders playing outside the Premiership, and was linked with high profile moves back to the likes of Manchester United, and his former side City, in the January window.

Although he was born in Warrington, he qualifies to play for both England and Wales. He began his international career with England at under-20 level, helping them win the 2017 Toulon tournament, and was eventually given the Best Player award, after scoring in the final. However, he then decided to change allegiance and has since earned three full international caps for his adopted country.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
