Brighton midfielder signs new contract

Midfielder Beram Kayal has signed a one-year contract extension with Brighton that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The 30-year old was Chris Houghton’s first signing as The Seagulls’ boss in January 2015 when he joined from Celtic for an undisclosed fee, and has since gone on to make 103 appearances for the South Coast side, scoring on 4 occasions.  A reliable squad member, only injuries have hindered his career at The Falmer Stadium, and his role as a valuable squad member has now been recognised with the new deal.

Speaking to the club’s website Houghton said: I am delighted for Beram, he has been an important member of the squad and a very loyal servant to the club ever since he joined us almost four years ago.”

Kayal plays his international football for Israel and has amassed 30 caps for his national side after making his debut against Switzerland a decade ago.
