Chelsea reject £50 million Barcelona offer for Brazilian star

Chelsea have turned down a bid of £50 million for their Brazilian wide man Willian from Barcelona

According to The Daily Mail, the Spanish champions are looking to bolster their attack, now that Andres Iniesta has left the club, and want Willian to link-up with compatriot Philippe Countionho, both of whom are currently in Russia with Brazil’s World Cup squad.

However, although Willian’s representatives are reported to be in Barcelona, Chelsea have given no indication that they are prepared to sell a player who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2020. And, if they do decide to move him on, Barcelona will almost certainly need to compete for his signature with Manchester United. Former manager Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of his former player, and would be ready to bid for him if he became available.

Willian joined Chelsea in August 2013 from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkla for a fee of £30 million, and has since gone on to make 236 senior appearances for The Blues, scoring 44 goals for the West London club.
