That is according to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, who report that Bonucci may become Maurizio Sarri’s first signing of Chelsea boss, if, and when, he is confirmed as the successor at Stamford Bridge to Antonio Conte, whose dismissal from his post has now been confirmed.
Bonucci who has 80 caps for Italy made his name as part of the legendary defensive line at Juventus and won six Serie A titles during his time with the Turin club. He only made the switch to Milan a year ago in a high profile transfer costing £37 million, but although he quashed rumours of a move away only last month, the Serie A club, who are beset by financial problems, and have been thrown out of this year’s Europa League as a result, may be prepared to listen to offers, especially as a fee for the 31-year old of £50 million, has been mooted.
