Chelsea youth star on verge of sealing Ipswich loan move

Chelsea youth star Trevoh Chalobah is set to move to Ipswich Town on loan for the season.

Chalobah is the younger brother of Nathaniel, another product of the Chelsea academy, and impressed in the club’s development side last season, as well as featuring for the England under-19 European championship winning team.

According to The Sun, a loan move to the Championship will provide Chalobah, who is yet to make a senior appearance, with the chance to familiarise himself with the demands and rigours of professional football.

Ipswich have returned to training after their summer break under new manager Paul Hurst, who took over from Mick McCarthy in the close season, and are hopeful that Chalobah can become their first signing of the summer after Chelsea appeared to sanction the move, with the club confirming on their official Twitter account: “Paul Hurst has confirmed that Town are close to signing @ChelseaFC defender Trevoh Chalobah on loan #itfc”.

Chalobah’s expected first game for his new club will be the season is likely to be Ipswich’s season opener against newly-promoted Blackburn Rovers.
