City set to miss out on main transfer target

Manchester City have been dealt a blow with the news that their main transfer target, Ajax midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, is set to join PSG.

A host of Europe’s top clubs have been trailing the 21-year old, who has been dubbed as the “next Johann Cruyff”, with Juventus also heavily interested in the Dutch international, but with Ajax setting his valuation at £66.4 million, only one side is prepared to match that price, and that is Paris Saint-Germain, despite the club being under investigation over FFP (Financial Fair Play) infringements.

The player himself has told friends that he would prefer to join City, reports The Daily Mirror, who have identified him as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, who is now 34 years old. However, for once, City find themselves out-spent and are not prepared to match what PSG are able to offer Ajax, and are set to miss out.
