City want to offer young star new long-term contract

Manchester City are keen to tie their young 18-year old star Phil Foden down to a new long-term contract.

Foden, who scored his first senior goal for the club in their Carabao Cup win at Oxford on Tuesday, and who had a hand in both his team’s other two goals, has continued to impress his manager Pep Guardiola with his application, and he has promised him more gam time this season.

The England under-19 international’s current contract runs until 2020, but both club and player are keen to agree on a new deal, according to The Daily Mail,  which will keep him at the Etihad for a number of years to come.

Star of the England under-17 side that won the World Cup in India last year, Foden has been nicknamed the Stockport Iniesta, although the player himself insists that he cannot be compared to the Spain and Barcelona great so early in his career.
