Danny Drinkwater suffers another blow

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has had a bad week.

On Monday he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after crashing his car near Manchester.

Now his manager Mauricio Sarri has publicly confirmed what had been widely assumed common knowledge for some time, saying that he has no future at the club.

A former Premier League winner with Leicester City, Drinkwater has not made a single competitive appearance for Chelsea this season, after being told by Sarri last summer that he does not suit his style.

Despite this Drinkwater turned down the opportunity to move in January, and decided to stay, seemingly content to stay in the reserves and pick up his £120,000 a week in wages.  Now Chelsea are determined to renew their efforts to move him on in the summer, despite the fact that they will incur a substantial write-down on the £35 million they paid for him in September 2017.
