Dortmund reject Arsenal’s initial bid for Aubemayang

The Daily Mail have confirmed that Borussia Dortmund have turned down Arsenal’s opening bid for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang.

The Gunners apparently made a formal offer for the Gabon striker of £44 million, but Dortmund are said to want £53 million who has scored 141 goals for the club in 212 appearances since signing from French club Saint Etienne in 2013.

Aubemayang was withdrawn by Dortmund from the squad that travelled to Berlin to play against Hertha on Friday night, but trained with his Borussia team mates on Saturday as the negotiations about his future continue.

One option that has been discussed is for Dortmund to take Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in part-exchange, although none of the parties involved will publicly comment on the matter.

However, Dortmund CEO has now confirmed that his club can “confirm that there has been a first request from Arsenal for Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang”.

Whilst their initial bid may have been rebuffed, Arsenal can be expected to make a further bid, with separate rumours circulating that they have already agreed personal terms with the 28-year old.
