Everton agree deal to sign Columbia World Cup star

Everton have agreed a deal to sign Columbia World Cup star Yerry Mina.

That is according to Spanish media outlet Sport, who reports that the Merseyside club have agreed a €32 million (£28.5 million) fee with his current club Barcelona, with the 23-year old set to join Everton on a 5-year deal.

Mina had currently been linked with a move to Manchester United, but now it looks like Everton have beaten them to the punch with this move, which is likely to further infuriate Jose Mourinho, already unhappy at his club’s relative inactivity in the transfer market.

The addition of Mina to the squad should add strength to an Everton defence that has shown to be weak in pre-season, whilst his considerable ability in the air, as evidenced by his three headed goals in the World Cup, including the dramatic injury time equaliser against England, will add potency to their attack from set pieces.
