Everton defender completes West Brom medical

Everton centre-back Mason Holgate has completed a medical with West Bromwich Albion ahead of a loan move to the Hawthorns until the end of the season.

The England under-21 international, who moved to Goodison Park in 2015 from Barnsley has found first-team opportunities limited this season under the new Toffees’ boss Marco Silva, and has made just four Premier League starts.

Now The Sun reports, he is being allowed to move to the Midlands to get the opportunity to play competitive football more regularly, and will help bolster West Brom’s promotion campaign in the second part of the season. A number of clubs were interested in signing the 22-year old Doncaster-born player, but Darren Moore and his side look to have won the race.

Holgate has been told that he still has a future on Merseyside, but with Yerry Mina, Kurt Zouma and Michael Keane all ahead of him in the Goodison pecking order at present, the loan move is seen as being good for his development.
