FIFA could thwart Chelsea transfer plans

FIFA could thwart Chelsea’s plans of going on a massive summer spending spree ahead of a sanctioned transfer ban.

That is according to The Sun who claims that the Stamford Bridge outfit was planning to spend up to £200 million this summer ahead of the transfer ban covering two windows which has been imposed on them for infringing the rules when it comes to transfer activity and minors.

The ban is due to take effect from this summer. However, Chelsea are relying on the precedent which was set when previous bans were imposed on Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético, which allowed clubs to continue to sign players whilst an appeal was in progress.

However, the rules have since solidified since those bans were imposed, which means that Chelsea may not be able to sign anybody new, even whilst their appeal is being heard.

Chelsea are expected to submit their appeal in time for Monday’s deadline.
