Fulham linked with January move for Leicester striker

New Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri wants to sign Leicester City striker Islam Slimani in the January window.

Ranieri signed the Algerian international for a club-record fee when he was in charge at Leicester in August 2016, but the move did not work out, and he only found the net 8 times in 35 appearances before he was sent on loan first to Newcastle, and, from the start of this season, to Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

However, he has failed to impress in Turkey, scoring just the once, and Fenerbahçe may be prepared to cut a deal with Leicester to release him from his season-long loan early, reports The Telegraph. That would then allow Leicester to sell him to Fulham, although they are going to have to take a heavy discount on the £29 million that they originally signed him for from Sporting Lisbon.

Slimani has 59 caps for Algeria and has scored 27 international goals for his country.
