Guardiola denies Juventus links

Pep Guardiola has flatly denied claims that he is set to join Juventus in the summer.

Reports in Italy have emerged suggesting that the 48-year old Spaniard is being touted as the next manager of the Serie A champions, with current incumbent Massimiliano Allegri putting talks about a new contract on hold until the end of the season.

Separate reports have linked Allegri with the manager’s job at Real Madrid but, if there is going to be a managerial merry-go-round in the summer, Guardiola will not be part of it.

Speaking after his side’s 3-1 defeat of Watford on Saturday which helped maintain their lead at the Premier League, Pep described talk of him going to Italy as “impossible”, pointing out that he still had two years left on his current contract with Manchester City. He also made it clear that the only scenario which would see him leave his current post would be if he was sacked in the summer – a likelihood that seems remote in the extreme.
