21-year old left-back Demetri Mitchell is set to leave Old Trafford on loan to Hearts before the Scottish transfer window closes on Friday.
Mitchell spent the latter part of last season on loan with the Edinburgh club, and became a firm favourite with the manager Craig Levein and the club’s fans, starting 11 games and scoring once. He was linked with a move to Derby earlier in the transfer window, but the move fell through due to an injury, which delayed plans to sort out his immediate future.
The England under-20 international has been at United since he was a teenager, but has only made one senior appearance for them, featuring in the last game of the season against Crystal Palace last year. However, with no immediate prospect of first team football at Old Trafford, he is ready for another spell north of the border, with Levein confirming “we’re nearly over the line with Demi.”
