Leaked email reveals United transfer plans

An internal email sent by Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, has revealed the club’s long-term transfer strategy.

According to the memo which has been leaked to the press, United are working to sign players who fit the “long-term vision” of the club.

Sent shortly before the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in a £50 million deal was officially announced, the communication appears to have been designed to calm some of the transfer speculation which has swirled around the club this summer, with fears that the recruitment team at Old Trafford have not been doing enough to address some of the marked deficiencies with Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Woodward’s email also gave a hint of a change of direction in terms of the signings that the club intends to make, with an emphasis on young, hungrier players with more British focus,. That is as opposed to the expensive foreign big names stars to act a short-term fix, which was the strategy of Jose Mourinho and his predecessors at Old Trafford.
