Leicester agree deadline day deal for Turkish defender

Leicester City have agreed a fee to sign Freiburg defender Çağlar Söyüncü from German side Freiburg, with the player set to travel to The King Power Stadium for a medical on Thursday, as Sky Sports reports.

22-year old Söyüncü who was heavily linked with Arsenal at the start of the transfer window, is a Turkish international, with 15 full caps to his name, and has been at Freiburg since 2016, when he became the first player to make a transfer to the Bundesliga directly from TFF First League, the second tier of professional football in Turkey.

Renowned for his aerial ability, the timing of his tackles and his ability to play from the back, Söyüncü’s arrival at the club may be an indication that Leicester are willing to sell Harry Maguire to Manchester United in a last-minute deals, although , publicly at least, they continue to deny they are prepared to sanction any such move.
