Leicester confirm former Man City striker will not be leaving in January

As reported in The Independent, former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho will not be leaving Leicester City in January, despite stories linking him with a move away from the club.

The £25 million striker has not enjoyed the best of times at Leicester since his move from City in the summer, and has only made 2 Premier League starts, scoring only once for his new club.

The 21-year old Nigerian has 13 caps for his country and hopes to be in their starting line-up when they face Croatia in their first match in the World Cup in June. However, his national manager, Gernot Rohr, is concerned about the lack of playing time at Leicester of Iheanacho and compatriot Ahmed Musa, suggesting both players need to seek a move away from the King Power Stadium.

However, Iheanacho, at least, is set to stay in the East Midlands, with Leicester manager Claude Puel saying “he is a young player, arrived this summer, and he will stay with us”.
