Leicester midfielder signs new six-year deal

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ngidi has signed a new six-year deal with the club, after twice winning their Young Player of the Season award.

The 21-year old Nigerian international only signed for Leicester from Belgian side Genk in January 2017, but has quickly established himself as a permanent fixture in their midfield, making 61 appearances in all competitions, and scoring 4 goals.

Now he has been rewarded for his efforts at the King Power Stadium with a new long-term contract until 2014 and, presumably a suitable pay increase, although the terms of his deal have not been publicly revealed.

A full international for his country with 19 caps, Ngidi started all three of their Group Games at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, when they finished third behind Croatia and Argentina.

Ngidi himself expressed his delight in signing his new deal, telling the club’s official websiteI’m very happy to sign this contract with Leicester City. I have enjoyed every moment of my time with the Football Club, so I’m thrilled to be here for six more years. Together with my team-mates and our wonderful supporters, I hope we can look forward to many more fantastic moments.”
