As confirmed by The BBC, Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala moved to Everton on loan for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day.
Mangala, who cost City £32 million when they signed him from Porto in 2014, has started just 4 Premier League games this season, and, with the arrival of record signing Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao, has been deemed surplus to requirements at The Etihad for the rest of the season.
The 26-year old centre-back has played 79 times for City in all competitions, although his time in Manchester was punctuated by a loan spell at Valencia in 2016 – 2017.
The French defender becomes Everton’s third signing of the transfer window, following their capture of forwards Cenk Tosun from Besiktas and Theo Walcott from Arsenal.
Mangala has 8 international caps for France, but his last appearance for his national team was at Euro 2016 when he made a substitute appearance in their quarter-final victory over Iceland.
