Manchester City lining up shock move for Andres Iniesta

The Daily Mirror reports that Manchester City may be lining up a shock move to reunite manager Pep Guardiola with his former player and teammate Andres Iniesta.

Iniesta, who has made more than 700 appearances for Barcelona, signed a contract for life at the Catalan giants in October, but there are suggestions in Spain that it is a non-binding agreement, and, with the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, reports suggest that his influence at the Camp Nou may be dwindling.

That has awakened interest from City and Guardiola, who would love to be reunited with a man who effectively took his place in the team when he retired, and who he went on to coach to unparalleled success in the Champions League and La Liga.

For his part, Iniesta, who is likely to retire from international duty after the World Cup this summer, may be looking for one last challenge before he hangs up his boots, and a spell with City may give him the swansong to end his career on a high.
