Manchester City starlet to be handed new 5-year deal

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City are ready to hand Phil Foden a new 5-year deal when the teenager turns 18 in May.

Foden, who was named player of the tournament after England’s under-17 World Cup win last October, is regarded as one of the Premier League’s rising stars, and has already broken into the first team at The Etihad, making his sixth senior appearance for City on Sunday, when he appeared as a late substitute in their Carabao Cup triumph.

The Stockport-born player’s current deal, which runs until 2020, is worth £20,000 a week, including bonuses, but he can expect to at least double that with his new contract.

Manager Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of Foden and told the club’s website earlier in the season “I would like to have the right words to describe what I saw. You are the lucky ones who saw the first game, for the first team for Manchester City, of this guy”.
