Manchester United agree deal to sell Daley Blind back to his former club

Manchester United have agreed to sell defender Daley Blind back to his former club Ajax for £14 million, plus various add-ons.

The 28-year old Dutch international arrived at Old Trafford in August 2014 when Louis van Gaal was manager, and soon became a regular at United under his compatriot. However, his fortunes changed with the arrival of Jose Mourinho at the club, and he has struggled for game time in the past two seasons.

Now he is set to depart after a 4 year spell that has seen him make 141 appearances in all competitions for United, scoring six times in all.

The Daily Mail report that the fee that Ajax will pay for their former player could eventually rise as high as £18.5 million, which would represent a tidy profit for United who paid £13.8 million for him back in September 2014.

Blind is the son of former Ajax defender and Dutch national team manager Danny Blind.
