Petr Cech set for new role with Chelsea

Petr Cech is set to be offered a permanent role by Chelsea, either as a coach or ambassador, after he announced his intention to retire from football at the end of the season.

Cech, currently with Arsenal, announced on Monday that he would be hanging up his gloves at the end of the season after a 20-year playing career, but, according to The BBC, it looks like he is set to stay in London, with a return to his former club in some capacity.

The former Czech International was the most successful goalkeeper in Chelsea history, winning 13 trophies in an 11-year spell at the club, including the Champions League, and the Premier League on 4 occasions.

He joined Arsenal in 2015 but, out of contract in the summer, and with Bernd Leno displacing him as the number one keeper in North London, he has decided to stop playing, although his involvement in football seems set to continue.
