Rangers sign Liverpool midfielder on season-long loan

Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria has been sent on a season-long loan to Rangers, immediately after signing a new long-term deal with the Merseyside club.

20-year old Ejaria who joined the Liverpool academy from Arsenal in 2014, made 8 senior appearances for the club in the 2016 – 2017 season, before spending the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland.

Now he is ready, subject to international clearance, to be reunited with Steven Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister, the new coaching team at Rangers, men he knows well from their time at Liverpool, with the Scottish club confirming the move on their official website.

The move for Ejaria is Gerrard’s fourth signing, after Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield, Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor and Brighton and Hove Albion winger Jamie Murphy.

Part of the England squad that won the FIFA under-20 World Cup in South Korea last year, Ejaria scored one goal in 11 appearances for Sunderland, but could not prevent them suffering a second successive relegation as they slipped into League 1.
