Scott Brown set to extend his Celtic stay

Celtic captain Scott Brown has indicated that he is ready to sign a new contract with the Scottish champions.

The 33-year old midfielder’s current deal at Parkhead expires at the end of the present season, but talks over a new contract have already started, with, according to The Daily Star, the player indicating that it is a matter of when, not if, he signs the extension.

The Dunfermline-born player joined Celtic from Hibernian in 2007, and has become the bedrock of the team ever since, racking up nearly 500 appearances for The Hoops in all competitions, scoring 37 goals in the process. He has also enjoyed unprecedented success with the club, winning 8 Scottish Premier League titles, 4 Scottish Cups, and 4 Scottish League Cups with the side.

The former Scotland captain also achieved the double honour last season of being Player of the Year by both the Scottish PFA and the Football Writers.
