Southampton are close to agreeing a deal for Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong, with confirmation that the transfer has been completed expected in the next 24 hours.
The 26-year old central midfielder has had his medical and has also agreed personal terms, according to Sky Sports News, who reports that a fee of £7 million has been agreed plus various add-ons.
Armstrong joined Celtic in 2015 from Dundee United and helped them win back-to-back domestic trebles. He has made 145 appearances in his time at Parkhead and scored 45 goals in the process. A full Scotland international, he has earned six senior caps for his country.
If Armstrong does join Southampton he will be Mark Hughes first signing of the summer window, as he looks to overhaul a squad that only narrowly escaped relegation at the end of last season.
The Saints begin their 2018/2019 Premier League season with a home game against Burnley on August 11th.
