Spurs ready to exploit Celtic’s financial problems with Tierney bid

Tottenham Hotspur, having been quiet during the summer transfer window, are already preparing a list of targets for January, and are considering making a cut-price bid for Celtic’s highly rated left-back Kieran Tierney.

The 21-year old boyhood Celtic fan is under contract at Parkhead until 2021 but the club could be forced to consider selling him because of the financial implications of their early exit from the Champions League at the hands of AEK Athens this week.

Spurs were mulling over a bid for Tierney this summer, but were put off by his valuation which Celtic put at £20 million. However, the North London side hope that the Scottish Champions need for money will persuade them to accept a fee of half that amount when the transfer window reopens.

News of a move for Tierney is more bad news for Danny Rose reports The Daily Mirror, who is free to leave on loan before the end of the month, although no club has yet come in for the England international.
