Steven Gerrard wants to bring Liverpool winger to Rangers

Ranger’s manager Steven Gerrard is battling Blackburn Rovers for the signature of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on loan, and is hoping that his Anfield connections will give him the edge when it comes to finalising a deal.

A graduate of the Liverpool academy, Kent has spent the past few seasons on loan at various clubs, including Coventry and Barnsley, and, last season, at German club SC Freiburg and Championship side Bristol City, with the latter having to pay the Merseyside club some £500,000 in penalties after only giving the 21-year old limited game time.

Now, according to The Sun, Gerard, who knows Kent well from his Liverpool days, is set to win the race for the former England under-20 international, after promising he will utilise him properly.

Rangers have already signed nine players this summer but Gerrard is still looking for further players to strengthen the squad, particularly in forward areas where, as he revealed after his side’s victory over Macedonian side Shkupi on Tuesday, he is “concerned about the lack of quality in the final third”.
