Thierry Henry linked with Aston Villa job

Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry has been linked with a  move to club management and Aston Villa.

The surprise development followed the news on Friday that a new consortium, comprised of wealthy Egyptian businessman Nassef Swairis, and Wes Edens, co-owner of NBA team The Milwaukee Bucks, have agreed to inject significant investment into the financially stricken Championship club, in exchange for a 55% shareholding.

Now reports The Daily Mail, the new owners are contemplating replacing manager Steve Bruce at Villa Park with their own man, and are considering making an approach to Henry, who, earlier this week, announced he was leaving his role as a pundit with Sky Television to focus on his burgeoning managerial career.

40-year old Henry was assistant to Roberto Mancini with the Belgium national team at the World Cup, and helped guide the team to a third place finish in the tournament, their best ever showing.
