Tottenham set to offer South Korean star a new deal

Tottenham are ready to offer Heung-Mi Son a new contract as a reward for his recent performances, according to talkSPORT.

Having already scored 18 goals in all competitions this season, the South Korean is on target to top the 20 goal market for the second successive year, and now Spurs are looking to tie him down for the longer-term with a new deal.

The 25-year old arrived in North London from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, and the forward has since scored 47 goals for Spurs in 131 appearances in all competitions.

However, there is one potential glitch to any new deal. Under South Korean law, all men are required to undergo 21 months of national service before they reach the age of 28. Son is due to reach that milestone in July 2019, which means that he would miss both the 2019 – 2020 and the 2020 – 2021 seasons in the event of a military call-up.
