United could sign Gareth Bale for £5 million this summer

Manchester United could be given the chance to sign Gareth Bale for as little as £5 million in the summer.

The 29 year old Welsh international is no longer wanted by Real Madrid, with newly appointed manager Zinedine Zidane making it clear that he does not feature in his long-term plans.

However, selling the player outright is looking to become a challenge, with few clubs likely to meet the price tag that Bale has on his head, having been signed for £90 million back in 2013.

Now, according to The Daily Mirror, Real may be prepared to adopt a similar tactic with Bale as they used with another highly priced signing who was no longer wanted at the Bernabeu, James Rodriguez. In his case he was allowed to leave on loan to Bayern Munich for a loan fee of £5 million per season.

A similar proposal could be on the table for Manchester United, although they would still have to foot the bill for Bale’s wages which are £500,000 a week.
