United set to battle PSG for Brazilian youngster

Manchester United are set to fight it out with PSG for the signature of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

The 21-year old, currently playing for Flamengo, has recently broken through in to the Brazilian national side, appearing in both their recent friendlies against the United States and El Salvador, and now looks set for a big money move to Europe, with Barcelona and AC Milan also reported to be monitoring his progress.

However, PSG were thought to be in prime position and were ready to make a €40 million (£35 million) bid for the player in January. Now though they appear to have a serious rival, with French news outlet le10Sport claiming that Manchester United are also ready to throw their hat in the ring to sign the young attacking midfielder.

United already have a Brazilian contingent at the club with Brazilian international Fred an d Andreas Pereira, but so do PSG with the likes of Neymar, Thiago Silva and Dani Alves, so whichever club Paqueta joins, he is likely to find familiar faces.
