United trigger Pereira contract extension

Manchester United have triggered a one year extension to the contract of midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The 23-year old Brazilian was out of contract in the summer, but now United have followed their usual procedure of triggering the extension whilst they work on a longer-term deal.

He is the latest United player whose career at the club has experienced an upturn since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager.  Under Jose Mourinho he spent last season on loan at Valencia, but was recalled in the summer, and has been increasingly integrated with the first team in recent months, and was part of the side that pulled off the heroic victory over PSG in the Parc des Princes last week.

He scored his first United goal at the start of the month against Southampton.

Pereira made history last September when he became the first player born outside the country to play for Brazil in more than a hundred years.
