Wolves are reportedly close to agreeing a compensation figure for Rui Patricio with the goalkeeper’s former club Sporting Lisbon.

That is according to The Daily Telegraph who reports that a figure of around £15 million fee is likely to be paid for the Portuguese international, who has been an instant success in the West Midlands since arriving at the club in the summer.

Patricio was one of a number of Sporting players who sought to unilaterally terminate their contracts with the club on the grounds of just cause, following an attack on the players by the club’s supporters at the end of last season.

Wolves had hoped that they could get the 30-year old on a free transfer, but Sporting demanded compensation and had threatened to take the issue to CAS (the Court for Arbitration and Sport).

Now it looks like the long-running saga could soon be at an end with Patricio likely to sign a 4 year contract at Molineux.
