Everton and West Ham linked with former United player

Both Everton and West Ham United are being linked with a January move for former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa.

The Japanese international is in the middle of his second spell with Borussia Dortmund, but finds himself marginalised under the Bundesliga side’s new manager Lucien Favre, and has been restricted to just four senior appearances so far this season.

With the player and his representatives ready to hold talks about his future in the next few days, it looks like the playmaker could be allowed to leave Dortmund for the second time when the window opens again in January.

Everton are said to be closely monitoring his situation, although West Ham may also be ready to throw their hat into the ring for the midfielder who would cost around £12 million.

Kagawa was signed by United in June 2012, but failed to make a lasting impression in Manchester, and, despite winning the League with Sir Alec Ferguson in his first season, struggled under his successors, and was sold back to Dortmund in August 2014.
