West Ham reject bid for midfielder

West Ham have turned down a bid from Fiorentina for midfielder Pedro Obiang.

That is according to Sky Sports who report that the Hammers have rejected a bid for the midfielder of €10 million (£8.9 million) for the midfielder.

The Spanish-born player, who plays his international football for Equatorial Guinea, joined West Ham from Sampdoria in June 2015, and has since gone on to play for them 105 times in all competitions, finding the net three times.

He has made 18 appearances this season, and although he is behind the current midfield duo of Mark Noble and Declan Rice at the London Stadium, the Hammers are unwilling to release him unless they can identify a suitable replacement, with Carlos Sainz out for the season, and Jack Wilshere another long-term absentee.

Meanwhile West Ham are set to reject any overtures for their Mexican forward Javier Hernandez, despite interest from La Liga and Valencia.
